The number of new Corona infections registered in Austria on Tuesday was 7,892, below the 8,000 mark. That’s more than the average of 7,117 new infections per day over the past seven days, according to AGES figures released Wednesday.

Seven thousand eight hundred ninety-two new coronavirus infections were registered in Austria on Tuesday. A week ago, 13,048 new infections were reported. The seven-day incidence continues to fall; after 606.8 the previous day, it was reported today at 551.8 per 100,000 population.

Fewer than 8,000 new Corona infections were reported Wednesday.
However, 21 more deaths related to the covid pandemic were reported than on Tuesday. Since the pandemic began, 20,943 people in Austria have died from or with Covid-19, or 232 people per 100,000 population.

More than 5.4 million confirmed cases since Corona pandemic began
The number of active cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection decreased by 1,541 in one day to 78,894 active infections. There have already been 5,416,866 confirmed cases in Austria since the pandemic began. Since the epidemic outbreak, 5,317,029 people have recovered; within the past 24 hours, 9,431 were reported as recovered.

The number of hospitalized patients with Covid-19 increased by eleven from the previous day to 2,119, of whom 106 were being cared for in intensive care units, up by one or one of the last day.

16,974 vaccinations on Tuesday
On Tuesday, 16,974 vaccinations were administered. Of them, 15,406 were booster vaccinations (4th, 5th, and each additional vaccine dose). Five million two hundred twenty-one thousand seven hundred twenty-one people, or 57.8 percent of Austrians, have been validly vaccinated as recommended by the National Immunization Panel (NIG). A total of 1,083,286 people have received a booster vaccination to date.
